This attractive and flavorful variety is also produced in most of theapple-growing areas, but the best are produced in the Northwest. Althoughit bears the same name and is similar in shape to the Red Delicious, itis an entirely separate variety. It is far juicier and sweeter and has asmoother flesh texture than the Red Delicious. It has a more tender skinand, unlike the Red Delicious, is a fine apple for cooking and baking. Havesomeone peel you a Red Delicious and a Golden Delicious and make a tastetest. Nine times out of ten the Golden Delicious will walk away with thehonors.
