The Mutsu is a golden-skinned import from Japan that is now beinggrown in the Northeast. Except for its name, which leaves something to bedesired (it's pronounced mutt-soo), this apple is close to being perfect. It has a fine flavor, a crisp, juicy texture, and it reaches tremendoussizes. I've seen some that were as large as a grapefruit. This is the newestvariety on the market and it will take some time before it achieves nationaldistribution and acceptance.
