GALIA


The Galia is fairly new in North America. They are grown in Israel andflown in via jet in November, December, January and February, when mostother varieties are out of season. They look like pale-skinned, fairly smoothcantaloupes, but they have a light green flesh. The flavor is quite sweetand they have a nice, smooth, juicy texture. They are usually quite costly.In recent years Galias have also been grown in Latin America and PuertoRico, but these aren't quite as good as those grown in Israel.
