WATERCRESS


Watercress is an aquatic plant grown along stream banks. Its small greenleaves have a sharp, pungent, peppery flavor. Watercress is used as a garnishas well as in salads. In England, no afternoon tea is complete without watercresssandwiches. However, it is very perishable. Purchase it only if it looksvery green and fresh and store it in your refrigerator. Watercress is alwayssold in small bunches and usually at moderate prices.
