3 pounds beef brisket
pepper and paprika to taste
1 package dry onion soup mix
1/2 cup chili sauce
1/2 cup water
Microwave Oven Directions: Place meat in a glass casserole. Season with
pepper and paprika. Cover dish and cook on medium setting for 1 hour, or
until fork tender. About 20 minutes before brisket has finished cooking,
sprinkle onion soup mix over surface of meat. Re-cover and continue cooking.
Slice brisket thin to serve. Combine 1/2 cup pan juices with 1/2 cup chili
sauce and serve as gravy.
Crock Pot Directions: Place brisket in crock pot. Sprinkle with seasonings
and onion soup mix. Combine chili sauce with 1/2 cup water and pour on top.
Cover crock pot and cook on low setting for 8 to 10 hours.
Conventional Directions: Place brisket in a roasting pan. Sprinkle on seasonings
and onion soup. Add chili sauce and 1/2 cup water. Cover tightly with foil
and roast at 325°F for about 2 hours, or until meat is almost tender.
Remove cover and baste with pan juices. Continue roasting 30 minutes longer,
or until brisket is browned, basting frequently.
