1 pound asparagus
Microwave Oven Directions: Wash asparagus and break away hard, fibrous part
of the stalk. Weigh asparagus. Wrap in plastic wrap and place on paper (or
place asparagus in a glass dish and cover top of dish with plastic wrap).
Cook in microwave oven for 10 minutes per pound on high setting. Allow to
stand a few minutes before serving.
Conventional Directions: Wash asparagus and break away hard, fibrous part
of stalk (may be used in soup). Tie asparagus in serving bunches with thread
or string. Place, standing upright, in a deep saucepan with 1 inch boiling
salted water. Cover and cook over medium heat 12 to 15 minutes, or until
tender.
