1 pound asparagus
Microwave Oven Directions: Wash asparagus and break away hard, fibrous partof the stalk. Weigh asparagus. Wrap in plastic wrap and place on paper (orplace asparagus in a glass dish and cover top of dish with plastic wrap).Cook in microwave oven for 10 minutes per pound on high setting. Allow tostand a few minutes before serving.
Conventional Directions: Wash asparagus and break away hard, fibrous partof stalk (may be used in soup). Tie asparagus in serving bunches with threador string. Place, standing upright, in a deep saucepan with 1 inch boilingsalted water. Cover and cook over medium heat 12 to 15 minutes, or untiltender.
