This old Northwest variety is a medium-size berry with a glossy blackcolor. Mild in flavor with little tartness, Evergreens are best paired withtart berries for pies. For eating fresh, enliven their flavor with lemonjuice and sugar to taste. These are late-season berries, available frommid-August through mid-September.
