MULBERRIES

Mulberries grow on trees and bushes and come in two colors: black andivory. The black mulberries look like blackberries and the ivory mulberrieslook like albino raspberries. Both types are quite flavorful and practicallyseedless. However, they are far too fragile to ship to market.

Mulberry trees are a fine addition to a home garden because not only dothey bear fruit with little or no care, they also attract wild birds, especiallydoves.

While mulberries play no significant role in the United States as a cashcrop, they are an important fruit in the Middle East. People of that regionnot only enjoy them as a fresh fruit but dry them in the sun and use themthe way Americans use raisins.
