Developed at Oregon State University and now grown extensively in California, ollalieberries are a cross between a black logan and a youngberry (yet another blackberry hybrid). They're long berries, more slender than boysens, with shiny black skin when fully ripe; if the fruit is still dark maroon, it will be very tart. Ollalies are great for pies. Their season runs from late May through early July.
