Boston lettuce is also known as butterhead lettuce. While it has a fairlylarge head, it isn't nearly as solid as iceberg lettuce. The leaves arepale green and are loose, soft, and thin. Since it is easy to separate wholeleaves from the head, this variety is often used as a bed or a boat forserving other foods. Boston lettuce usually sells at moderate prices.
