CERON

CERONS

Situated within the boundaries of Graves, Cerons is the stepping stone between the dry white Graves, and the sweet white Sauternes and Barsac wines. Its chateaux have the right to make both the red and white Graves, Graves Superieur (which may be dry but is usually sweet) and, of course, the sweet wine of Cerons. In fact, only 20 per cent of the production in this area is sold as Cerons, a wine that has enjoyed a modest reputation for nearly 200 years. The appellation covers three communes, those of Illats, Podensac and Cerons itself. Many of the vineyards are comprised of scattered plots, some of which are partially planted with acacias.
