30 mile stretch of vineyards that extends across river from south of Condrieu to St. Peray. From the vineyards on the slopes of the six villages of Tournon, Glun, St. Jean-de-Muzols, Lemps, Vion and Mauves. In the old days St. Joseph was named the " Vin de Mauves ". A pleasure to the kings of France, it has been honored by the pens of our greatest writers, and not amongst the least by Victor Hugo. In the manner of its neighbor, hermitage, the red wine of St. Joseph owes its unity of style to the Syrah, and to the soils on which it grows, all belonging to the Massif central. St. Joseph deserves to be treated as one of the finest wines of the Rhone Valley. The most refined and elegant of the Northern Rhone Syrah. The finesse elegance of this wine ripen unfailingly with the years. Less well known, St.Joseph white wine from Roussanne and Marsanne offers light freshness.
