COTES DU RHONE VILLAGES
(VAUCLUSE)

Created in 1967 the appellation "Cotes du Rhone Villages" distinguishes the best of the wines for which the growers voluntarily accept a more vigorous control to ensure that they present the very essence of the qualities of their sun and their soil. The seven villages lie within the square formed by Bollene, Vaison-la-Romaine, Orange and Carpentras. The vineyards have pushed to the hilltops the natural herbs, thyme, olives, lavender and flood over the chalky clay soil as far as the approaches to Mont Ventoux. Grenache predominates, but we see more and more of syrah, adding further to the character and life of these sumptuous wines. The wise know to lay them down to mature one to three years, according to their alcoholic content, the vinification method, their structure and village of origin. A few white wines may be found as well lithe and vigorous and rose´s especially mouth filling.
