CARIGNAN


A Spanish variety grown extensively in southern France and California producing table wine. One of the Carignan's synonyms Mataro, is the common name for the Mouvedre. This is also widely planted in southern France and provides a similar well colored, harsh wine, though they are not the same variety, a Carignan blanc and a Carignan gris also exist.
